The "Highest Grade."

We know a lot of you have been asking for this to come back so you could revel in the earthy deliciousness you remember. Here's the honest update: sourcing those original coffees has become increasingly difficult. So in full transparency, this is a new blend we're attempting. It has a very similar profile, but comes from two different coffees, India and Ethiopia, instead of the original pairing.

Mocha Java is an ode to the oldest and most widely produced coffee blend in history, and to the rise of coffee capitalism itself, most famously the "very fine Java & Mocha" blend Hills Bros made famous in the early 1900s. We roast each origin separately at its own optimum level, then post-blend to create the marriage: earthy and chocolatey, with bright cherry fruit running through it.

Too bad Hills Bros didn't just do it right and actually make it the "highest grade." Maybe the coffee industry would be better off today if they had.

I’ve ordered serval different styles of coffee from Mad Priest Coffee and have never been disappointed. The Mocha Java blend has nutty notes to it and is not bitter like some Mocha blends from other companies. I would definitely order it again. The Best I've had....

in years. As mentioned in this blend's description, a true Mocha-Java should feature a Yemeni coffee. Usually, a nice Ethiopian is substituted, due to the high cost of Yemen since the wars began.
This coffee is so reminiscent of bygone days: the spicy chocolate, brandied cherry with a hint of blueberry, and that "clean earthiness." As prepared as a Hario V60, it is incredibly satisfying, and as a vac pot brew, almost illegally royal. I could swear my Fellow Ode grinder was smiling through the grind process. IMO, this is a must get NOW coffee, as the supply of excellent Yemen is not guaranteed. A 2 # bag (freeze a # in Mason/Ball Jars) is, IMO a terrific deal.

I’ve found enlightenment
